Amelia Island, with its 13 miles of beautiful beaches, pristine waters, and historic Southern charm, has long been beloved by visitors and residents alike. 1. Ocean Sunrise
By far the most iconic shot when visiting our island is the Atlantic Ocean. Catch it at sunrise and it'll take your breath away. With 13 miles of coastline and over 40 public beach accesses, finding the perfect spot to get your best sunrise shot is pretty easy.
2. Yulee Coolie
Located in front of the downtown Welcome Center (historic Train Depot) is a statue of David Levy Yulee who created the first trans peninsular railroad in Florida. He's also considered the "Father of Fernandina". The number of people (and pirates) who have posed with him are too many to count.
3. Marsh Sunset

The sun setting over the marshes of Amelia Island is nothing short of spectacular and there are plenty of great viewing spots. Some of our favorites are: Walker's Landing at Omni Amelia Island Plantation; Atlantic Avenue overlooking Egan's Creek; the deck of Cantina Louie and Captain Jack's restaurants looking toward the Shave bridge; and The Salty Pelican overlooking the Amelia River.
4. Wings and Things
Story & Song Bookstore Bistro is not your average book store. They not only have books, a bistro, gifts, art, and stellar events, they also now have a courtyard mural full of wings. Folks are literally flocking there to have their picture made. Stop in and shop. Grab a bite to eat. Earn your wings.
5. Shark!
Jaws has nothing on our famous (fake) shark located on the docks at the downtown Fernandina Harbor Marina. This shark has had some serious camera time.
6. Egan's Creek Greenway
Egan's Creek Greenway runs north to south along Egan's Creek and photo ops here are limitless. Marsh, birds, alligators, snakes and local flora & fauna. Over 300 acres of beauty, nature and wildlife to take in and take pictures of.
7. Pier Pressure
The iconic Fernandina Beach pier, located between beach access #31 and #34, has had its share of photo sessions. Unfortuately, the top of the pier is on private property, but fortunately, most photos are taken underneath. Family renunions, beach walkers, teenagers, sun bathers, dogs... you get the picture.
8. Have a Coke and a Smile

The Palace Saloon is Florida's oldest bar and quite possibly the most photographed on the inside. However, it's the vintage "Drink Coca Cola" painted brick wall that gets the most camera snaps on the outside.
9. Ready. Aim. Fire!
Many island visitors don't consider their vacation complete without a trip to Fort Clinch. Step back to the year 1864 and explore and photograph the grounds, rooms and galleries but especially the rampart overlooking the St. Mary's river where a row of canons still stand at the ready.
10. Pippi Longstocking
Historic Old Town on the northern end of Amelia Island, is the orignial location of the town of Fernandina. The Captain's House majestically overlooks the Amelia River and is an iconic photo op not only for its historic beauty but because it also received notoriety in the late 1980's movie, The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking.
