Is there an annual membership fee or any costs to being a tourism partner?
Engaging with the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) as a tourism partner is completely free—no cost or membership required.
The tourism development tax (TDT or “bed tax”) is the 5% user fee collected on short term lodging properties (resorts, hotels, B&B’s and vacation rentals) on Amelia Island. As a non-profit organization funded by the TDT, the CVB is dedicated to marketing Amelia Island as a premier hospitality and tourism destination. As proud stewards of the destination brand, the CVB remains committed to supporting the success of the region’s hospitality and tourism industry.
What's the difference between the CVB, TDC, BOCC, Main Street and the Chamber?
The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is the elected governing body responsible for overseeing the taxes collected from county residents.
The Tourism Development Council (TDC) is the nine-member appointed board comprised of consisting of one County Commissioner, two elected municipal officials, and six tourism industry representatives. The TDC provides recommendations on how to allocate the Tourism Development Tax (TDT). The Board of County Commissioners appoints the members of the TDC.
The Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) serves as the marketing agency responsible for managing and executing the advertising programs funded by the TDT to promote travel to Amelia Island.
Fernandina Beach Main Street promotes the preservation-based economic vitality within the Main Street District of downtown Fernandina Beach.
The Nassau County Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based association of businesses, professional leaders and individuals working together to sustain a favorable business climate that enables existing and new businesses to prosper.
Can I have my business rack cards on display at the Welcome Center downtown?
Tourism-facing businesses—including resorts, hotels, restaurants, retail establishments, and activity providers—are invited to display their promotional materials in the Welcome Center. To maximize visibility, we ask that you also maintain a business listing on AmeliaIsland.com, allowing visitors to access your details while planning their visits.
