The Beach Lady Film Project is a series of short filmed dances, each honoring an aspect of MaVynee Betsch’s life and work. Mavynee Betsch, also known as “The Beach Lady”, spent the better part of her adult life educating the public on the black history and environmental importance of American Beach. Each of these dances are filmed at American Beach and feature amazing local dancers.
In the premiere film below, this beautifully choreagraphed dance depicts the “Spirit of NaNa”, the highest dune system in the state of Florida as well as the beloved and sacred place MaVynee fought so hard to protect. Follow along on this journey with us as we celebrate the life of this amazing woman and stay tuned for the next videos in The Beach Lady Film Project:
