An annual tradition since 2001, the Amelia Island Jazz Festival is an incredible celebration of the all-American musical genre of jazz.

Taking place October 16-19, the 2014 Amelia Island Jazz Festival will feature a dizzying line-up of world-class artists, including headliner Randy Brecker and the Brecker Brothers Tribute band. Highly regarded as one of the best jazz trumpeters in the world, the GRAMMY Award-winning Brecker has helped shape the sound of jazz, R&B and rock.

He will dazzle audiences with songs from his recent release “The Brecker Brothers Reunion,” as well as classics such as “34 N Lex” and the Brazilian jazz-infused “Into the Sun.” The festival will also include performances from the Dynamic Les DeMerle Band, featuring vocalist Bonnie Eisele, organist Tony Monaco and special guest saxophonist Hunter Diamond.

The full line-up of musicians is available here.  “In addition to our dedication to bring world-class jazz to Amelia Island, we also provide jazz awareness with educational programs like Jazz in the schools, Jazz for Kids and Jazz for Seniors,” said Les DeMerle, founder and artistic director of the Amelia Island Jazz Festival. As Founder and Artistic Director Les DeMerle takes jazz very seriously.

A native New Yorker, DeMerle is a veteran jazz drummer. He and his wife, vocalist Bonnie Eisele, have been recording and performing jazz music for more than 30 years. According to DeMerle, the duo started the Jazz Festival to keep the musical integrity of quality jazz on island.

Since its inception, the festival has featured the biggest names in jazz, including David Sanborn, Ramsey Lewis, Spyro Gyra, David Benoit, Buckwheat Zydeco, Mindi Abair, and the Royal Crown Review. “Bonnie and I work with our incredible AIJF board and 100 volunteers to make this exciting festival happen every October,” said DeMerle. “This is our life and Jazz is a true American Art Form that enriches the soul and is so rewarding to present.”
