7 Ways to Celebrate Mom on Amelia Island
Mother's Day is going to feel a little bit different this year. Think outside the norm and give the mom in your life something she'll treasure and talk about for years to come.
Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and there is no doubt that it will be a little bit different this year. As we’ve all been “sheltering in place”, moms especially have had to wear a variety of hats that they may or may not be used to wearing. In addition to being a working professional, they are now teacher, playmate, personal chef, instructor and the list goes on. Or, maybe your kids no longer live with you and you’re caring for an elderly parent. Whatever situation you may be in at the moment just know that we see you and we salute you. Happy Mother’s Day to all you super moms! Here are 7 ideas to safely let the mom(s) in your life know you care.

Send Her A Bouquet

It may be a little cliché on Mother’s Day but really who doesn’t love getting flowers sent to them? Brighten your mom’s day with a gift of greenery, flowers, or plants. Dottie B’s Florist, Island Flower and Garden, and Revelation Design have all been making mom’s happy for years.

Order a Family Feast

Moms have been getting very creative in the kitchen the last couple of months. Let’s give her the day off so she can savor someone else’s cooking for a change. Pogo’s Kitchen is offering a spectacular brunch to take home, complete with a bottle of champagne on Mother's Day. Many of our island restaurants are still serving curbside and take-out and some dining rooms have now opened. Visit www.bit.ly/AIBusinessUpdates for a list of restaurants with their current service offerings or click here to view individual restaurant highlights and details.

Sweets for the Soul

If your mom has a sweet tooth, we have the cure. It just so happens that Amelia Island is home to several of the best bakeries, candy stores, and fudge shops around. Trust me, your mom will sing your praises for years to come. Check out Nana Teresa's Bakeshop Mother's Day Specials, Fantastic Fudge for delicious fudge by the slice, and Amelia Island Toffee for their incredible home-made toffee in a variety of yummy flavors.

Take a Hike

Get out for some much-needed fresh air. Pick up a picnic lunch from The Mustard Seed Café, grab your mom, and head to Egan’s Creek Greenway to socially distance yourselves in nature. Egan’s Creek Greenway is a protected area of 300+ acres of sensitive lands with grass-covered roads that serve as a network of hiking/biking trails. Benches and interpretive displays are located throughout the Greenway.

Stock Her Bookshelves

Curling up with a good book is the best way to “get away” without going anywhere. Especially during stressful times. Browse the shelves and website of Story and Song Bookstore Bistro for the latest best seller or visit historic downtown’s The Book Loft for the perfect page turner.

Give the Gift of Wellness

Give mom something to look forward to with a gift certificate for a massage, facial, mani/pedi, body treatment or anything that will soothe and pamper her. Visit The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Amelia IslandLondon Medical Spa, or The Spa at Omni Amelia Island Resort for the gift of wellness that she deserves. If she's getting tired of her indoor treadmill or quick walks around the block, sign her up for an online class from The Beat Fitness.

Shop the Market

Still can’t find what you’re looking for? Visit the Amelia Island Market, our all-inclusive, one-stop shopping site where all sales go directly to the individual businesses to help keep business flowing. There are three perfect mom bundles created for you to take the long work of digital shopping out of the equation - just visit Amelia Island Market Bundles today and keep mom smiling all year long.
