if you want fun, games, and social vibes along with a cold one—Amelia Island does not disappoint. Below is a list of bars and breweries where you can grab a drink and play games: electronic games, billiards, board games, darts, duckpins, yard games, you name it. Use it as a guide for your next family-friendly evening out.
Games: Duckpin bowlingWhy go: This is a must for fun-seekers. Duck Pinz combines miniature “duckpin” bowling (smaller balls, shorter lanes) with a craft cocktail and bourbon bar. It’s a win win for a good time. Tip: This is a great spot for daytime family bowling or a fun stop before or after dinner.
Games: Golf simulators, ping pong, corn hole, and moreWhy go: With three indoor golf simulators to learn, practice or play over 400 golf courses on, and a large turfed covered patio with corn hole, and ping pong, Golf Pub Social is a game enthusiasts kind of bar. You can also skip all that and just watch your favorite team play on large screen TV’s, or listen to live music on the patio!Tip: Don’t forget to ask about golf lessons from the pros! Yep, they do that, too.
Games: DartsWhy go: Scully’s is a favorite with locals and visitors alike. With a casual atmosphere, good pints, comforting Irish fare, laid-back game nights, and darts on the patio, you can close your eyes and swear you were in Dublin. Tip: Ask about Trivia Tuesdays with Russell. 7:30pm and free to play!
Games: Family-friendly board gamesWhy go: First Love is well-loved for its cozy, family-friendly welcoming vibe. It’s built around gathering, community, and fun (hence the communal tables). Grab a pizza and a board game and play inside or outside on one of the picnic tables. Tip: All the food is good but the Hot Honey Pizza with a side of Huli Huli wings is where it’s at!
Games: PoolWhy go: As Florida’s oldest bar (since 1903), the Palace Saloon carries history and charm. What’s more, you can play pool there. Visit in the evening when the historic ambiance is in full effect—sit at the bar, hear local stories, then challenge someone to a game of 8-ball.Tip: Order a Pirate’s Punch to soak in the full ambiance of this beautiful old bar.
Games: Putting GreenWhy go: Located in the lobby of the historic Amelia Schoolhouse Inn, this bar mixes history with modern comfort. For those who love golf and drinks, head to their outdoor courtyard to practice putting and cocktail sipping. Live music Thursday – Saturday, 5-8pm.Tip: Order a “Principal’s Rita” whether you putt or not. They’re amazing!
Games: Outdoor lawn games, foosball, cornhole, EuchreWhy go: A1A Cidery is a standout for those who want to enjoy lawn games in the open air, competitive foosball matches indoors, and locally handcrafted ciders. They also host Euchre nights every 3rd Thursday (that’s cards for those not in the know).Tip: Pop in for weekend football on the big screen and Atomic Wings Food Truck – Or, walk next door to Marlin & Barrel Distillery for a tasting flight!
Games: Games for kids, communal board gamesWhy go: Located in an old renovated car dealership, Mocama is one of the island’s most beloved breweries noted for being kid and family-friendly, so expect games you can play while sipping a cold brew and keeping your kids occupied.Tip: Grab a flight and a game and enjoy yourself!
Games: Pool tables, dartsWhy go: Hammerhead Beach Bar offers the bonus of being across the street from the ocean, serving up buckets of cold beer, and having traditional bar games. Tip: Early evening is ideal. Sit outside and enjoy a drink as the sun goes down, then settle into pool or darts on the indoor side.
Games: PoolWhy go: Locals’ Cocktail Lounge pairs craft cocktails with daily drink specials, plenty of TVs, and a spacious billiards room featuring five tables!Tip: Head out to the patio on a chilly evening—the fireplaces make it one of the coziest spots on the island.
