MUSIC

Just about any day of the week, you can stroll the downtown streets and hear music wafting up from one of many eateries and bars. It's just a part of the scene. Places like The Boat House, The Green Turtle, PJD's, and The Salty Pelican are always showcasing live accoustic music or full on bands. But, on the first Friday from April through October (except for Shrimp Festival weekend) from 6-8pm, the foot of downtown's Centre Street turns into an all out street dance. Sounds on Centre is a family event where folks bring a lawn chair and their dancing shoes and groove to a free concert. Rock, blues, country or jazz. You name it. It's all good.

FESTIVALS

If you have a love for music and the arts the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival and Amelia Island Jazz Festival are two events not to be missed. AICMF showcases prominent artists in various island locations from January to May while the AIJF is held every year in October and features greats from the world of Jazz. Not to be left out is April's Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival that, in addition to serving up great art and delicious food, also offers a live concert down by the docks!

THEATRE

​Amelia Island is home to two prominent local theater organizations - Amelia Community Theatre and Amelia Musical Playhouse. both host year round shows and both are getting better with each passing year. Founded in 1981, Amelia Community Theatre provides six productions each season on its main stage, plus other shows and events on their studio stage while Amelia Musical Playhouse stages a variety of musicals, plays and revues throughout the year.

DANCE

The Britannica's definition of dance is "the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the movement itself". Enter Amelia Island Dance Festival. Held every September, their performances showcase talent from across the country, and the finest from local dance institutions of Northeast Florida. NOTE: If you happen to be visiting our island between March and June, 2022, you can participate in a monthly dance series brought to you by CRESCENDO AMELIA. Partnering with Sadler Ranch and Ballroom on Amelia, they will have you on your feet with a variety of music from 1920-2022!
