Great charter with experienced Captain.
We took a four hour charter with Captain Steve in July. He and his first mate were very friendly and helpful throughout our charter. Captain Steve had over 40 years of experience in the waters around Amelia Island and he knew exactly where the fish were biting. As soon as we dropped our lines, we were reeling in the fish. We caught many whiting and trout, which we kept for dinner. The highlight of the day, however were the two sharks we landed. We hooked at least 15 others that we lost trying to land them!! It was a lot of fun. Once we returned to the dock, Captain Steve cleaned and filleted the fish for us. We took them to a local restaurant (The Salty Pelican) and they prepared them for our dinner. It was delicious!!
Years of Great Memories!
We have been going out with Cap'n Steve and crews for over 28 years as best we can recall. My brother-in-law booked a shark fishing charter in about 1994 and we've continued the tradition every July since, although only that first time for sharks. Over the years we have "Filled the box" and some years come home with a few "Fish sticks". But many nieces, nephews, in-laws and our own sons have joined us over those years, even my mother-in-law (Now 95). Regardless of the weather or fishing charts, we've always made memories and had great times together and with Cap'n Steve and his Mates. Ye Ole Pirate is a reliable, well outfitted, safe, handicap accessible boat. Cap'n Steve is kinda part of the family now but doesn't have to buy birthday or Christmas gifts! Thanks for all the good times, see you again soon! I can't recommend Ye Ole Pirate and Cap'n Steve enough!

Steve was a fabulous captain on my family’s fishing trip. My grandchildren have never fished before. They learned so much from him. It was an amazing 4 hours!!
Great Day and great crew
Great crew with Capt Steve and First Mate Matt. Captain gave us some really interesting history of the area as he grew up in the area. Comfortable older boat that was set up well for fishing. Crew had us on fish in the first five minutes of dropping anchor. Our kids safety and comfort was their first priority and we stayed in the river so we weren’t fighting seasickness with the family. Good day on the water. Cap and Matt were hustling to keep us in fish, were super patient with our kids, even during a 4 pole tangle when we hooked a ray. Wouldn’t hesitate to fish with them again.
