Peg Leg Running Tours offers historic tours of Downtown Fernandina Beach. All tours are run-at-your-pace, even if that means we need to walk.If you’ve never been on a running tour, they’re pretty much what you’d expect. We jog around town (about 3 miles) while talking about the historical points of interest.
The tour route is about 3 miles, or about a 5K. Tours are by appointment only. I can run the whole time, but you might not be able to and that’s okay. We can walk as much as you need to. We go as fast as the slowest person in the group. Tours begin and end by the big pirate statue at the foot of Centre Street. His name is Peg Leg Pete. He is pretty easy to find, but if you need an address for your GPS, try 102 Centre St. Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
Unique activity
We're always looking for different things to do when we travel. We are casual runners and this was a great way to learn some history about the area. Very accommodating for schedule and pace. Highly recommend this even for slower runners.
Fun & Informative!
We like to take some sort of tour whenever we visit somewhere new. This was a great way to get our workout in while learning some of the history of the area. Rob was a great tour guide and will go at the pace of the slowest person in the group, so no worries of anyone being left behind.
Perfect way to get to know Fernandina ( and get in a run too!)
Rob takes you on a fascinating 30min running tour of historical Fernandina - a great way to learn about the local history and burn off some calories! Pace was perfect - conversational and adjusted to my plodding along . The time flew by and I learned a great deal . Thank you so much Rob !
Unique way to see the sights and hear about the history
This was a fun tour and I very much enjoyed hearing Rob's take on the history, local spots, and modern area. I could not make it through the whole run and Rob was very understanding. Definitely recommended.
Fun and Different!
This was a great way to kill two birds with one stone! This running tour was the first thing we did on our trip- a great way to get oriented to the island, learn some history, and get your workout in on vacation! It was a wonderful way to start the day. Thanks, Rob!
