The Louisiana French Creole use the term “lagniappe” to describe something that’s “a little something extra,” and that’s exactly what chef owner Brian Grimley knows it takes to transform a dish from mere food into an experience you never forget. Inspired by the culture and flavors of New Orleans, Charleston and Savannah, Chef Grimley’s Lagniappe Restaurant combines the traditions of the French Creole with unique twists on Southern culinary staples using only the freshest local ingredients. And should you wish to elevate your experience by imbibing one of the many cocktails on the menu, you’ll choose from a range of both classic and new wave cocktails inspired by the eclectic spirit of the South.

Unworthy of a visit! Major disappointment!
Save your money and go elsewhere! We sure wish we had chosen differently. My husband and I were looking for a romantic place to celebrate my birthday and mentioned so when making the reservation. We were seated in a room where a large birthday party was happening and the noise level was so high we could not hear our own conversation! Then, to add insult to injury, the food was disappointing. My husband’s trout had very little flavor and my nondescript salad was extremely overpriced. What should have been a celebration (I might also add that the restaurant in no way recognized my special day) turned out to be a very non-festive and very disappointing experience.
Wonderful! Will be back!
Last minute decision to check it out after having no plan on a Thursday night. We have made the area our regular getaway for over 20 years and have never tried Lagniappe. What an error on our part! So surprisingly delicious and our service at the bar was excellent.
Oysters perfectly cooked! Amazing shrimp and grits. Perfect blackened redfish.
We will definitely be back. You should definitely try this restaurant!
Great Food and Service!
Upscale food and service that is not overpriced. We enjoyed the Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade before sharing a house salad with lovely Tupelo Honey Mustard dressing. The Seafood-Court Bouillon was full of tasty shrimp, clams, oysters, and fish cooked to perfection. The Panko Breaded Chicken Breast with champagne mushroom cream souce was amazingly tender. The entrees came out steaming - hot food, NOT hot plate! Enjoyed a very tasty key lime pie slice for dessert. They DO have Happy Hour! Best food and service in town.
Secret Menu Item
Ask for the secret menu item “The Fish” and make sure to ask your server for the special Langiappe sauce. I visited in August and my waiter Drew was clearly a master of his craft.
Food quality has slipped considerably
We have eaten at Lagniappe many times over the past five years, and we have had many wonderful meals there. Tonight was not one of them. The food quality has slipped considerably. We have had the crabcakes in the past and they were full of crab and quite tasty. Tonight the $50.00 crabcake entry had two flavored bread cakes that had minimal crab in them. The swordfish entry was OK but not great. The swordfish piece was quite thin, which led to it being overcooked. There are many restaurant choices on Amelia Island. We will give Lagniappe a pass for a while.
