When you arrive for your adventure, the guides from Happy Trails Walking Horses will take you on a one-hour journey. Your adventure starts at our actual beach ranch where you will get to see the stalls and tack room. You will be assigned a horse, mount when the guide indicates to do so, then have a brief riding and safety lesson, which is part of the hour adventure. Our guide will take your group through a fun and amazing lush trail full of traditional Florida vegetation. The trail leads out to Amelia Island’s pristine beach shoreline. You will take this luxury ride on one of our impressive Tennessee Walking Horses (some of whom are direct descendants of Roy Roger’s famous Trigger).
Anyone can access the property as it is wheelchair accessible and there is not much of an incline/decline for those with walking issues, but they will not be able to get near or be involved with the horses for safety concerns. Beyond perfection!
Just incredible! This was a bucket list item and a birthday gift from a friend. It couldn't have been more perfect! The horses were beautiful, so well cared for, and clearly loved. Nikki, our guide, was a true professional and such a gentle spirit. Pure goodness. I can't wait to come back!
Spooked Horses
For my sixtieth birthday I thought it would be great to take a horseback ride on the beach in Amelia Island. I am not sure how to review this because the horseback riding was fine until just 5 minutes before we were done. Then my husband and I were thrown off our horses! Now the reason for this was because my husband's horse was spooked by a garbage bag from a man picking up garbage on the beach and threw him off, which then led to my horse freaking out and throwing me off. Thankfully we were ok, just bruised, but it could have been so much worse! It is very important to wear your helmet provided. I know they are animals and unpredictable, but maybe some type of training should be done to prevent this in the future. Our guide Nikki was knowledgeable and helpful.
Good fun
I have been riding all my life, but not much in the last 40 years. Stan did a great job of giving us a few instructions that made the ride even more fun.
Hands down the best !
Holly was by far absolutely amazing! She was professional but also so much fun. She made sure we had a mini lesson prior to riding - she made sure we felt safe the entire time! This is by far one of my favorite memories in my life !
