Choose SPRINGHILL SUITES instead of COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT if you want free coffee & breakfast! They are attached.

The hotel itself is fine, but it's about a block from the ocean and the ocean view balcony in room 401 was looking over a parking lot and between buildings to see Main Beach. Our shower had a rain head but it had very low water pressure which meant it took me a long, long time to rinse the shampoo out of my long hair, and then again a long time to get the conditioner out. When other rooms used water the pressure got even lower - almost impossible.

SPRINGHILL SUITES OFFERS A FREE BREAKFAST & COFFEE (which is not available to Courtyard by Marriott customers - even if they are willing to pay a fee for it!) SPRINGHILL SUITES AND COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT ARE ATTACHED PROPERTIES, AND SHARE THE POOL & SPA AREA.

The Courtyard by Marriott in-room coffee maker was very poor quality, and no free coffee available in the lobby. They have a little cafe/bar area that serves coffee for $6-7 a cup, a toated bagel is $7, and yogurt with a few berries and a tablespoon of granola is $10 (as opposed to 2 for $6 at Publix). So, I was glad I purchased a breakfast package that gave us $50 per day - which covered 2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of orange juice, 1 coffee, and 2 breakfast burritos for the 2 of us. A $50 breakfast here is NOT a $50 breakfast at a fancy restaurant, and much less than an average breakfast at a chain restaurant. Restaurant staff were very friendly and did a great job, they don't control the prices or selection, so I want to be sure they know we appreciated them.

The pool was very nice looking, but too cold to use. The spa/hot tub was about what pool temperature should be, so we decided not to use them.

This hotel is close to Main Beach and Ft. Clinch State Park.

Worst Marriott Experience — Bad Customer Service & Overpriced — NO WORKING WIFI

Do not bother coming here if you are looking to stay for business travel / WFH. Or if you just need Wifi! The hotel was trying to blame my technology as the reason for the Wifi not working (I tried on 4 different devices; my iPhone, iPad, HP laptop and Dell laptop, all of which were personal or work devices) for HOURS. I stayed at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island before this (owned by Marriott) and had zero issues with the Wifi. The hotel should take ownership for the fact that the Wifi was not working instead of blaming the guest. I had a work deadline later that day so I had to checkout early and pay for a new flight to go home, just so I could go to the airport to use Wifi and avoid wasting $300+ to stay somewhere that falsely advertises free / working wifi for guests and has terrible customer service. When I checked in, I was handed a letter where it was marketed to me as a Marriott rewards member that I got complimentary “enhanced wifi.” And guess what? That did not work either!

Before I left, I was told that the manager of the hotel would call me, but he didn’t. I was not provided a receipt or charged when I left and I was under the impression I would get a refund. I later received a call from the the front desk (not the manager) to tell me that I couldn’t get a refund. I received an email right after that my credit card was charged. Shocked that the manager who was clearly advised about an unhappy customer did not take the time to speak to me in person nor call me to apologize / ask about my experience or ways to improve, which was what was promised.

Also, the button on the phones labeled to call the “front desk” don’t work in the rooms. I wish they told me that when I checked in.

And don’t bother ordering the avocado toast for breakfast. It is a sad, pathetic and overpriced plate.

Waste of money. Waste of time. Terrible experience.

Dishonest housekeeping staff.

During my recent stay at the Courtyard by Marriott on Amelia Island, located at 2700 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL, I checked in on September 30, 2023, and checked out on October 1, 2023, at 11 am. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my electric toothbrush in the hotel room, which is valued at approximately $200. After I drove straight back home, I realized that I had forgotten it in the hotel shower.

I promptly contacted the hotel's helpdesk and spoke with Alice, who identified herself as the head of the housekeeping staff. She assured me that she would check the room and call me back promptly. However, I did not receive a callback from her until 6 pm. When I reached out to the hotel's front desk again, I was informed that Alice had already left for the day and was advised to leave a voicemail, which I promptly did.

Subsequently, on October 2, 2023, I called the hotel again, only to be told that Alice would be off duty until Wednesday, the 4th. I reported the situation to her assistant, Shandale, who assured me that she would investigate with the housekeeping staff and get back to me. Unfortunately, I did not receive a callback from Shandale until 3:40 pm. I attempted to reach out again and left another voicemail. Later, Shandale returned my call and left a voicemail stating that my toothbrush was not found.

I am disheartened by the level of service I have experienced from the Marriott brand, particularly in the handling of this situation. It is truly disappointing.

Frustrating Experience every AM

I really liked a lot of things about this hotel. Our room was clean, the pool was quite large with a pool bar, nice fitness room, and had a large, attractive lobby with great parking underneath the hotel. We did have to pay for parking ($15/night), but we were fine with that especially because there was covered parking that made us feel safe keeping our car there. Unfortunately, every morning (we stayed 4 nights) at approximately 5:00 A.M, there was a loud, noise either coming from the housekeeping room (which was close to us) or the roof. So, when we were awoken by this noise the first time, which continued for about an hour and a half or so, I walked down to the front desk and attempted to speak to the woman behind the desk. (We were on the 4th floor.) It was a loud, long, beeping type noise that was relentless. The first morning it happened, I went downstairs to talk to the front desk employee. She went to the 4th floor, came back down, and told me that she did not hear anything. She did not offer to change our room and basically said that she didn't have the authority to do anything about it. She told us that the next front desk person could help us. She also said that there was no manager on duty at this time. That was frustrating and the same thing happened at 5:00 AM the next 2 mornings. It wasn't until we checked out of the hotel that we were able to speak to a manager. The manager was very cordial and admitted that he knew about the problem. He was great, but it was unfortunate that it took that long to talk to someone that would do anything at all about the problem!

Solid 5 starts

Nice, newer hotel. Check in was easy. Employees were friendly. Common areas kept clean. Room was clean. Great housekeeping standards. We stayed using a free night award certificate. The king room we had was on the small side and overlooked the dumpster but as we look for the silver lining, we could see a glimpse of the ocean and the sunset. I did not ding them for the small room nor the location of the room as I didn't go back downstairs and request a change of rooms. Just noting it here in case they read this that platinum members stay a lot of nights to earn awards and I personally think they should be considered for one of the nicer rooms and locations. Parking was easy and was $15 a night. Pools area is nice and has a manned bar all day/evening. We didn't eat here as it is located very near the downtown area. Not walking distance though. Breakfast was a struggle as your only option is the hotel or to drive somewhere and eat. Not the hotel's fault but the area needs a couple of restaurants in the area. Ending on a positive, the ocean is walking distance and there you will find a mini golf, pavilions and chairs and umbrellas for rent. We will return and will request certain room attributes, All in all, a solid 5 stars.
