A unknown gem
We were looking for Italian. Found without a reservation could not get in. Hostess recommended for us to go next door as more seating capacity. We were promptly seated and ordered a bottle of wine, an full order of chicken piccata for my guy and a half order for me, followed by coffee and shared pumpkin cheesecake. The entrees were very substantial (had the leftovers tonite!) spot on of crispy coating on the chicken and yummy lemon sauce. Dessert was decadent! Our server Gavin provided a ready smile and prompt service. So glad we came here!
Ehhh…
The atmosphere here is charming inside and out. We sat outside on the porch. Our server took our drink order and explained he would have to change the keg for my husband’s beer order so it would take a few extra minutes for our drinks to be delivered. Then he came back to explain they were out of the particular beer my husband ordered. My husband selected an available beer. Following this we observed him waiting on another table and other people being seated and attended to by other servers who informed them of the evening’s dinner specials and delivered drinks and food. Twenty minutes later I caught our server’s eye and gave him a shoulders’ up shrug meaning “ where are our drinks?” He gave me an edgy expression and said “ I told you I had to change the keg.” But the beer order had been changed. (?) After that exchange he immediately brought out our drinks. Hmmmm… Following this we had to flag him down to inquire about the specials of the evening and place our dinner order. ( His other table on the porch had eaten and left by the time we were served our main course). Our Grilled Calamari was excellent. We had ordered our blue cheese salad without bacon. It was served laden with bacon. Our server, to his credit, took the dish off our check. My mussels were very mediocre. They were tepid and served in a watery sauce with a hint of Sambuca. I found the addition of this liquor uncomplementary to the dish. My husband’s burger and fries were good ( hard to get this order wrong). My husband asked for the check when we had finished our meal. Our server complied without asking if we would like coffee or dessert. Having poor service on our first dinner experience at this restaurant was a turnoff. We will return sometime and hope for better service. I won’t be ordering the mussels.
Very good.
Excellent restaurant. Food was wonderful and our server Tyler was the best. Restaurant is in an old house. If you’re in town, please eat here.
Since the reopening truly fine food.
Visited Bar Zin for the first time since they reopened and the food and wine was excellent. Very worth the cost.
A must go Restaurant!
Food was excellent. Patrick our waiter was very pleasant. Great atmosphere. Cost for 2 for dinner was good as well. $100 w/tip is good these days. Good wine/drink selection
