Amelia Island offers some unexpected, highly inspired backdrops for yogis from absolute beginners to power practitioners. Here are five perfect places to begin, or continue, your health and wellness journey.
ON BOARD
Leave your mat on the shore and hop onto a stand-up paddle board (SUP) for a floating class led by Amelia Island’s original SUP yoga instructor, Deb Cunningham. No experience on a paddleboard or in yoga is required, and taking a dip while challenging your balance is encouraged. Soak in the sun and hear the peaceful waters lap against your board for the ultimate in relaxation.
BEACHSIDE
Find your drishti on the horizon when you practice yoga along our Atlantic waters. Amelia Island Beach Yoga, offered by longtime Nassau County instructor, Deb Cunningham, offers yoga sessions that you can take right on the beach! There’s no better way to unwind than stretching your muscles with your toes in the sand, gazing out over the ocean.
BY CANDLELIGHT
Like moths to a flame, island yogis draw those who seek peaceful relaxation in their yoga practice, to their candlelight classes. Centred on Yoga offers Restorative Candlelight yoga – a slow vinyasa focusing on calming restorative asanas.
WITH HISTORY
The Amelia Island Williams House invites you to their Sunrise and/or Moonlight Yoga classes held on the front lawn of the historical Bed & Breakfast. The class incorporates flow sequences and short holds to improve balance, strength, and flexibility. Poses are modified for all levels in this series that will leave students energized, centered, and stress free. It’s the perfect way to begin or end your day!
AT A RESORT
