Drawing on research and her lived experiences, Dr. Cole will capture the realities of Black beaches during the era of segregation, describe the current state of these beaches, and suggest what the future might be for such communities as American Beach. Dr. Cole will raise these questions and invite audience engagement: What is the future of American Beach? What are the issues that will determine the extent to which this historic place can continue to honor the past while building for the future? 150 seat allowance
