Start and end your fossil hunting experience with Fernandina Fossils!
Before Your Hunt: For newbies, we can increase your chance of finding fossils by offering information, tips, treasure maps, and gear. Kickstart your skills by taking a guided fossil hunt with Dr Foss L. Hunter, our experienced naturalist guide, who can help you understand the best hunting times, introduce you to our coastal habitat, and show you how to read the beach and find fossils.
After Your Hunt: Come by the Fossil Center to have your fossils identified by our experts. Take a photo at our aquarium mosaic wall, discover ways to display your finds, and ask our Resident Artist, Amelia Island Julz, to wire wrap your find into a beautiful piece of jewelry. We also offer educational experiences for kids of all ages, including art classes. Best of all, we have a monthly show and tell event in our courtyard, where people bring in their finds and we help identify them.
We look forward to sharing the beauty of Amelia Island its fossil treasures with you!
We love the idea of fossils bringing people together and want to encourage that with our Speed Dating for Broken Hearted Megs event at 2 pm. We invite the community to come in with any locally found megalodon fragments. In the traditional speed dating style, we'll have everyone spend a few minutes with each other checking to see if their megs match.

Join Reanna Boudrow and our group of fossil experts for a fun and educational session. This will be a hands-on activity with Reanna providing teeth to ID, but you are also welcome to bring in your own fossils, particularly any heart shaped ones. We will help you make identifications and will provide an official ID card for your favorite item.
Tickets for the event are free with a donation (of fossils, time, or funds).
