Exploring Amelia Island

Nature

While you’re on Amelia Island, take the time to meet our most famous residents – manatees, sea turtles, whales and dozens of bird species. Several state parks, trails and undeveloped nature areas provide the perfect opportunity to glimpse these Floridian creatures.

Nature Center - Amelia Island Plantation

Including bike, segway and kayak tours discovering birds, turtles, edible plants, night creatures and crabs. Several tours are designed for children and include educational crafts about the featured topic.

Amelia River Cruises & Charters

A visit to Amelia Island is incomplete without a tour of our scenic waterways. Amelia River Cruises & Charters provides narrated, historic and wildlife sightseeing tours with views of dolphins, manatees, sea otters, alligators, and views of the wild horses of Cumberland Island National Seashore.

Discover Fly Fishing and Light Tackle Adventures

As the 2004 Orvis Endorsed Guide of the Year, Capt. Russell Tharin is passionate about fly fishing and light tackle fishing on the beautiful flats of Amelia Island. We fish for redfish and spotted sea trout year round, and our migratory fish in season, such as spanish mackerel, ladyfish, bluefish, jack crevelle and sharks.

Fort Clinch Nature Walk

Free with park admission of $5.00 per vehicle. Every Saturday, weather permitting. This is a guided nature walk around Willow Pond trail, which winds through a coastal maritime hammock down to fresh water ponds. Through an informative presentation, visitors will discover a wide variety of native plants and animals.
