Travel by Air
Amelia Island is an easy 30-minute drive from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), making the airport a quick and convenient option for air travelers from all over the world. Some island accommodators, such as the Amelia Island Plantation and the Ritz-Carlton, offer shuttle service to and from the airport for a fee. JAX offers flights on a dozen major airlines and a network of regional carriers, including Air Tran, American, Continental, Delta, ExpressJet, Frontier, Jet Blue, Northwest, Southwest, United and US Airways.
In addition, the Fernandina Beach Airport (FBO) offers corporate airplanes and jets the advantage of easy landings and departures. McGill Aviation offers the amenities expected for the private aircraft customer, including a Hertz Local Edition office on location.
Travel by Boat
The Fernandina Harbor Marina is the perfect home base for those traveling to Amelia Island by boat. The Marina can accommodate vessels up to 100 feet with advance reservations, with overnight rates starting at $1.75 per foot, per night. The five-foot deep Marina also offers amenities such as fuel, moorings, 30- and 50-amp power, showers and on-site washers and dryers. Boaters have several choices for restaurants and shops within walking distance of the Marina. Reservations can be made by calling the dock house at 904-491-2090.
Travel by Car
Even with the other options available, most visitors prefer to arrive by car. An easy drive from Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa and other points north, south and west, arrival on Amelia Island is worth whatever mode of transportation you choose.
