In March 1774\, on Amelia Island\, Bartram began his much-anticipated trip to Florida and the St. Johns River. He traveled through Old Fernandina to Lord Egmont’s plantation\, then continued to the St. Johns River while documenting the region’s flora and fauna. Through his travels\, he introduced the world to over 250 native plants! \nTo honor his travels\, you can book either a Kayak Tour with Amelia Island Kayak Excursions or a Historic Van Tour with Amelia Island Footprints\, then gather afterwards at Egan’s Creek Park for an inspiring interpretive talk. \nHistoric Water & Land Tours: (Kayak or Van) \nNaturalist-Led Kayak Tour: Amelia Island Kayak Excursions will host a guided kayak tour focusing on the history\, flora and fauna of Egan’s Creek and the area. A more personal ticketed experience with the Artists will be held in the evenings at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet the Artists\, have photos taken and hear personal stories from the songwriters themselves. \nOn Sunday morning\, Story & Song Neighborhood Bistro will be hosting a private book signing and performance featuring Radney Foster. The festival will officially close with a final ticketed event on the Amelia River Cruise boat The Bald Eagle. This special interactive event with the songwriters and special guest artists show will take place on a two-hour boat cruise that will take passengers to Cumberland Island.
