SUMMARY:Exhibit: Right Whales of Amelia Island
DESCRIPTION:Looking out from Amelia Island’s beaches\, the warm coastal waters of SE Georgia and NE Florida host the only calving grounds for the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. This exhibition explores their hunted history and fragile hope-filled future. The evening’s activities will begin at 6:00 p.m. Following the presentation\, attendees will enjoy exclusive access to the exhibit along with complimentary appetizers and beverages. The suggested donation is $5 for members\, and $10 for non-members. Seating is limited on a first-come\, first-served basis. The program is wheelchair accessible. \nA second presentation will be at the museum on February 20th\, 6:00\, again as part of the museum’s “3rd on 3rd” series. Nick Williams\, a local biologist who leads Whale Guard Bioacoustics Research Inc. and is the naturalist for the Ritz Carlton\, will share right whale related research that he is currently involved with. \nA third presentation will be on March 4th\, 12:00 p.m.\, as part of the museum’s brown bag lunch series. SUMMARY:The Artist’s Studio with Stan Cottle
DESCRIPTION:Join Donna in conversation with Stan Cottle\, whose works are on display in the Art Gallery January 27-April 27\, 2026. \nAbout the Artist: STAN COTTLE \nA long-time resident of Amelia Island\, Stan Cottle came to photography by way of a career in marketing communications. As a marketing consultant\, Stan produces and directs visual communications for corporations\, which primarily involve digital media\, video\, and photography. Initially\, Stan hired writers\, cinematographers\, photographers\, and editors for his projects\, but eventually took on these roles himself. The addition of another role — drone pilot — extends Stan’s image capturing to include “flying cameras.” \nInspired over the years by his father-in-law\, nature photographer Len Messineo\, Stan has embarked on the journey of art photography. His focus is on landscape and architectural photography\, but he occasionally explores other genres. Stan’s purpose is to capture unique visual perspectives of our environment — natural and built — in order to enhance the human experience. \nClick link to purchase tickets
