SUMMARY:Festival Headliners: Andy Offutt Irwin and Carmen Agra Deedy
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an unforgettable evening of laughter\, reflection\, and pure storytelling brilliance! Our headliner showcase brings together three of the most celebrated voices in contemporary storytelling—each with a unique style\, all with the power to move hearts and stir minds. \nAndy Offutt Irwin\nWith a boundless imagination and a gift for blending humor and history\, Andy takes the stage with Free the Imprisoned Lightning\, the story of Leopold Mendelssohn—a German Jewish immigrant whose lifelong devotion to the Statue of Liberty fuels a journey of identity\, belonging\, and family legacy. Andy’s storytelling is rich in character\, bursting with Southern charm\, and layered with meaning. \nCarmen Agra Deedy\nA Cuban-born storyteller and NPR favorite\, Carmen brings her childhood in Decatur\, Georgia to life with razor-sharp wit and emotional depth. Her performances are at once hilarious and heartfelt\, shaped by the immigrant experience and a deep understanding of what connects us. With a storyteller’s timing and a writer’s precision\, Carmen makes you laugh while sneaking truth in through the back door.

SUMMARY:Festival Finale: “Bits & Pieces” w/ Rev. Robert Jones\, Sr. & Anne Rutherford
DESCRIPTION:Two dynamic voices. Two unique styles. One unforgettable afternoon.\nBits & Pieces pairs two celebrated musical storytellers—Rev. Robert Jones\, Sr. and Anne Rutherford—for an evening that weaves music\, narrative\, and soul-stirring perspective. From gospel-infused roots to razor-sharp wit\, this back-to-back performance showcases how stories live in our songs—and how songs can open our hearts. \nRev. Robert Jones\, Sr.\nA true renaissance man\, Rev. Robert Jones has spent over 40 years as a professional musician\, 20+ years as a pastor\, and 15 years as a nationally acclaimed storyteller. Whether performing traditional blues\, gospel\, or spirituals\, his music and stories reflect a deep well of cultural history\, faith\, and social justice. His performances educate\, entertain\, and inspire—always rooted in the belief that our differences are not dividers\, but reasons to celebrate. \nAnne Rutherford\nAward-winning storyteller Anne Rutherford brings a lively mix of humor\, heart\, and Wild West mischief to every performance. With vivid characters\, sharp wit\, and her mandolin by her side\, she creates stories that feel both timeless and delightfully unexpected. You can expect an hour filled with laughter\, imagination\, and Anne’s signature blend of spirited\, memorable storytelling.

DESCRIPTION:Looking out from Amelia Island’s beaches\, the warm coastal waters of SE Georgia and NE Florida host the only calving grounds for the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. This exhibition explores their hunted history and fragile hope-filled future. Fewer than 400 remain\, but if you are lucky\, during November through April\, one of those right whales and her calf will swim into your view. \nThe exhibit will open on December 19th as part of the museum’s “3rd on 3rd’ series with a special presentation by Richard Timm and Scott Rowley of the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors. The evening’s activities will begin at 6:00 p.m. Following the presentation\, attendees will enjoy exclusive access to the exhibit along with complimentary appetizers and beverages. The suggested donation is $5 for members\, and $10 for non-members. Seating is limited on a first-come\, first-served basis. The program is wheelchair accessible. \nA second presentation will be at the museum on February 20th\, 6:00\, again as part of the museum’s “3rd on 3rd” series. Nick Williams\, a local biologist who leads Whale Guard Bioacoustics Research Inc. and is the naturalist for the Ritz Carlton\, will share right whale related research that he is currently involved with. \nA third presentation will be on March 4th\, 12:00 p.m.\, as part of the museum’s brown bag lunch series. Theresa Hartz of the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors will provide an update on the 2026 calving season\, the lessons learned\, and insights about individual whales.
