In November 2018, Telfair Museums opened the reinterpreted Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters to the public. This multiyear effort incorporated the lives of all the people enslaved at the site into its narrative. These stories are critical to the understanding of American slavery and its legacies. In this talk, Shannon Browning-Mullis will discuss the project, the stories the site is now able to tell, and the future of American historic sites. Shannon Browning-Mullis is currently the Executive Director of Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace. Prior to this appointment, she was the Curator of Telfair Museums. Attendance is free for museum members with a suggested donation of $5 for nonmembers. Masks are mandatory. Seating is first come, first served with a limit of 30 people. This program is wheelchair accessible.
