Festive 4th on Amelia Island
Imagine a 4th of July celebration like the one you remember from your childhood (or from classic movies.) Fireworks, parades, plenty of small-town charm - all set against 13 miles of beach. The ultimate barbeque under the stars, a family-friendly downtown celebration and a lively celebration of the island's history are all possibilities.
Why not celebrate July 4th on Amelia Island (where you can wave the flag (on the one place in America that's been under eight different ones?)
  • First Weekend Union Garrison at Fort Clinch State Park. (July 1st and 2nd)  Experience life in the fort as it was in 1864. The grounds will be bustling with soldiers in period costumes involved in firing demonstrations, marching drills, cooking and daily activities. Ladies in their fine dresses, peddlers displaying their wares, fife players, and drummer boys are all part of the fun.
  • Firecracker 5K  (July1st ) This time-chipped race will start and finish at Omni Amelia Island Plantation’s Racquet Park, located next to the Verandah restaurant. Enjoy a scenic run, meandering through the beautiful, tree-canopied resort. Race starts at 8am. Kids fun run starts at 9am. $30 per adult and $20 per child. For more information, contact (904) 277-5193 or Tara.Fortner@omnihotels.com.

  • The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island's  Annual Red, White, and Deep Blue Celebration  (July 4th) Summer’s deep blue Atlantic Ocean provides a dramatic background for an All-American Independence Day Barbecue on The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island’s oceanfront lawn. The Red, White, and The Deep Blue Celebration on July 4 begins at 7 p.m. with live music by The Bama Gamblers, a Southern-rock band. This year’s buffet features grilled and smoked meats, fresh local fish, salads and an array of desserts made by the talented pastry team.  The event also includes front row seats to the annual fireworks show which begins at 9:15 p.m, accompanied by music. Tickets are $99 for adults and $29 for children, ages 5-12 (inclusive).

  • Light up Amelia 4th of July Celebration (July 4th) Join Light Up Amelia and Community First Credit Union at a family friendly 4th of July celebration in beautiful Downtown Fernandina Beach. There will be live music, an interactive kids zone, vendors and contests such as patriotic pet, decorated bicycle, pie eating and Uncle Sam look-a-like. The night will finish with a spectacular fireworks display beginning at 9:15pm.

  • Fireworks Cruises (July 4th) let you take in the show from the water with one of two special sunset cruises offered by Amelia River Cruises. Both depart from the downtown marina at 8pm and return around 10pm.  Find out more and reserve here.

Note that Amelia Island has an ordinance that requires that unattendend items such as chairs, canopies, etc. be removed from the beach or placed in designated storage areas before 8 p.m.
