Restaurant Week on Amelia Island
On January 25, Amelia Island kicks off its first Restaurant Week. The exciting event will offer visitors the chance to experience cuisine at a variety of Amelia Island restaurants. The participating establishments will offer visitors a fixed price of $19 and $29 for a three-course meal with a beverage. Additionally, participants will be entered to win a “Year of Dining,” with twelve $50 gift certificates to be used once a month for an entire year. Amelia Island Museum of History Opens Two Exhibits in January
The Amelia Island Museum of History will greet the New Year with two new exhibits opening in January. On January 9, the Beach Racing Exhibit will open, featuring a collection of old racing photos, newspaper articles, and artifacts from race cars. Later in the month, the museum will open a Black History Exhibit that will include firsthand accounts of life on Amelia Island during the heyday of American Beach, - a glorious oceanfront haven for African Americans during the Jim Crow-era of segregation. For made-from-scratch, home-style cooking, islanders and visitors alike know that Barbara Jean’s is the place to go. Located on Gateway Boulevard, the popular dining spot is open daily for lunch and dinner, and recently began serving breakfast on the weekends. The family-run restaurant bakes three kinds of fresh bread daily: pumpkin bread, homemade wheat rolls, and sweet jalapeno corn bread.
