Family Travel Tips from A Golf Pro & Pro Dad
Enjoy some Amelia Island family travel tips from a seasoned pro on and off the course. Aaron Merritt, PGA, Director of Golf at Omni Amelia Island Plantation, shares his favorite island experiences:
"We’ve recently relocated from Texas and my family and I have settled into the island life pretty easily. When I’m not registering golfers, managing the golf experience, playing golf or teaching the game, we take advantage of other outdoor sports. Depending on the season, we explore the surrounding state parks and hike and bike the trails through and around the island. When it’s time to cool off you can find us at the beach, doing all the board sports (wake boarding, surfing, paddle boarding). Additionally, kayaking is one of our most enjoyable escapes!
Morning strolls out and about, there’s always a place to find a good pastry and/or a coffee. When it’s time to dine, our favorites have been 29 South and Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen followed by some live music and good times at either Dog Star Tavern or the Green Turtle Tavern. This truly is island living!"
