Audubon Society, Amelia Island Perfect Mates for One-of-a-Kind Web Partnership

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (July 19, 2011) – The Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has expanded their nature-based web site, www.amelianature.com, through a unique partnership with the Audubon Society. The expanded site now includes descriptions of 150 types of plants and animals on Amelia Island – everything from trees and wildflowers to insects, fish and birds. The expanded site also includes samples of bird song from various species that inhabit Amelia Island, which will make them easier for visitors to identify.

“Amelia Island is the first destination to create a partnership of this kind with the Audubon Society,” said Gil Langley, President and CEO of the Amelia Island CVB. “The Audubon guides really enhance our offerings for visitors, allowing them to more easily identify a wide variety of plant and animal species while exploring Amelia Island.”

The new Audubon Guide apps can also be purchased and downloaded to a visitor’s mobile phone, iPod touch or iPad, allowing on-the-go access to images and descriptions. AmeliaNature.com also includes information on various nature-based activities on Amelia Island.

With nearly 10 percent of the island made up of park preserves, Amelia Island is an ideal destination for outdoor travel. Nature lovers can explore three state parks while visiting the island: Fort Clinch State Park, Amelia Island State Park and Talbot Islands State Park. Amelia Island is also part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. For additional information about the natural aspect of Amelia Island, visit www.amelianature.com.
