Amelia Island Receives Six Awards at HSMAI Annual Adrian Awards Competition

Winners Will Be Honored at Adrian Awards Gala Jan. 31, 2011 in New York City

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (November 11, 2010) – The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) will honor the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) with three silver and three bronze Adrian Awards during the 54th annual Adrian Awards Competition, the largest and most prestigious travel marketing competition globally.

The Amelia Island CVB won the following Adrian Awards: Web site (Silver) for ameliaisland.com, Corporate Group Landing Page (Silver) for meetonamelia.com, Corporate Group Online Ad (Silver) for the “Get Out of the Box” online ad, Corporate Group Animation (Bronze) for the “Get out of the Box” campaign, Partnership with Major Brand (Bronze) for the Amelia Island and Harris Teeter Partnership and Contest & Sweepstakes (Bronze) for the Sweet Tea Getaways Promotion. HSMAI will pay tribute to Amelia Island during the annual HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala, a black-tie affair attended by more than 1,000 hospitality, travel and tourism marketing executives, on January 31, 2011, at the New York Marriott Marquis.

“We are excited to be honored with six Adrian Awards this year,” said Gil Langley, President & CEO of the Amelia Island CVB. “We have worked diligently to create unique marketing campaigns over the past year, and are thrilled to be recognized by HSMAI for our efforts. Of course, the real benefit of these campaigns is the additional tourism we’ve seen in the past year.”

The Amelia Island tourism industry has seen steady increases throughout the past year. In June, Amelia’s inns, hotels and resorts reported up to a 14 percent increase in the number of room nights sold, making it the best month since 2007. July occupancy reached record numbers with many properties reporting 90 percent or better.

This year’s contest attracted nearly 1,100 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry. “The quality of the entries submitted in this year’s HSMAI Adrian Awards competition was truly outstanding,” said Fran Brasseux, HSMAI executive vice president. “This year’s winners represent the most inspiring examples of travel advertising, public relations, and digital marketing. We look forward to sharing this great work with the industry at the Adrian Awards Gala.”

In addition to celebrating Amelia Island’s award-winning work, the Gala and reception honors lifetime achievement and the “Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing.” All winning entries will be accessible in the Adrian Awards Winners Gallery online following the gala at www.adrianawards.com.
