Annual Florida-Georgia Football Rivalry Kicks Off on Amelia Island with Contest, Deals

AMELIA ISLAND (September 17, 2013) – As the University of Florida Gators and University of Georgia Bulldogs begin their march toward the annual rivalry game on November 2 at Everbank Field in Jacksonville, Fla., Amelia Island is executing its own game plan to give football fans an all-star line-up of special offers, discounts and a chance to win a three-day vacation.  Just 45 minutes from downtown Jacksonville, Amelia Island is home to numerous award-winning hotels, resorts and inns offering discounted packages for Gator and Bulldog fans looking to turn a game day trip into a weekend getaway or those who prefer to watch the game from the comfort of their hotel room.

The Addison on Amelia recently launched a Fall Free Night offer. Guests staying for at least four nights between November 1 and December 21, 2013 will receive one of those nights free. The Amelia Island Hampton Inn at the Beach is offering a Florida/Georgia Football Game Weekend Special. Guests staying Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 will receive a special Sunday night rate of only $1. Rates start at $139 per night. The Amelia Island Williams House is offering a $25 per night discount on room rates for guests who book two or more nights. Beachside Motel is offering Florida and Georgia fans accommodations starting at $99 per night during the exciting football weekend. To book the offer, guests must call 877-261-4236.


The Blue Heron Inn is offering Bulldog and Gator guests a special “BOGO” Florida vs. Georgia Game Package. All guests will receive a team-affiliated welcome gift basket and a Buy-One-Get-One gift certificate for a future night stay (not valid during FL/GA weekend). The Omni Amelia Island Plantation is celebrating the biggest weekend in college football with a special FL vs. GA package, which includes luxurious accommodations and two tickets for game-day transportation, including tailgate beverages. The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island is offering fans the opportunity to be the “title” sponsor of the game. Dawg and Gator fans will decide if the game is the Georgia vs. Florida or the Florida vs. Georgia by booking the package with the name they prefer.  Whichever team books the most game weekend packages will be named the official “title” sponsor at the property. In addition to supporting their team, visitors will receive overnight accommodations, breakfast for two at Café 4750 each day, valet parking and a special amenity from the pastry chefs. In addition to accommodation packages, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation will be offering a number of exciting events during Florida vs. Georgia Game Weekend. On Friday, November 1 from 5 to 10 p.m., guests can enjoy a Block Party with food, football toss, bounce house, live music and more. The after party continues at the aviation themed Falcon's Nest at 10 p.m. On Saturday, November 2, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation is offering game day transportation for $80 per person, including three tailgate beverages per person. Guests can book game day transportation through September 15. Kids can stay for an extended Camp Amelia program (during the game) for only $115 per child, which includes lunch, dinner and snacks.
